WhatsApp for iOS introduces the ability to use any emoji to reply to a message

WhatsApp for iOS finally rolls out Comments 2.0. It now allows users to choose any emoji they want to respond to a message in a single or group chat. Here's what you need to know about this new feature coming to the app.

Reactions 2.0 has just been announced by Meta's CEO Mark Zuckerberg. He is writing:

We are introducing the ability to use any emoji in response to WhatsApp. Some of my favorites:

While the first version of Reactions for WhatsApp launched in early May with six different emojis, the app now follows the same path as Instagram and allows users to choose which emoji to use.

It is important to note that Reactions 2.0 was rolled out today, which means that it could take several days and even weeks for the feature to start working for all WhatsApp users. Follow the steps below to make sure you have this new option:

  1. Long press a message.

  2. Tap to select one of the displayed emojis or the "+" icon to select another emoji

Like Instagram, users can change their comments to another one by long-pressing the same post and changing the emoji, or clicking the same one to delete it.

When the feature launched in early May, WhatsApp noted a few things about this feature:

  • You can only add one response per post.

  • Replies to disappearing messages will disappear when the message disappears.

  • It is not possible to hide comments or comment counts.

  • Recipients can see your comment before you delete it or if the deletion is unsuccessful. You will not receive a notification if the removal of a comment was unsuccessful.

In addition to this feature, WhatsApp has implemented several other features such as the ability to call up to 32 people, create a community, and more.
