Focus Mode on iOS 16 gets a lot of improvements. First announced at WWDC 2021, this feature helps users save time by choosing different apps that can inform them depending on the time of day. For example, if you're at work, you can change your home screen and get notifications only from selected apps. The same goes for your personal time, when you are exercising, etc.
iOS 16 enhances this experience with even more features. Here's everything new with Focus Mode on this upcoming OS, which is also available to public beta testers.
One of the most interesting things about Focus mode on iOS 16 is connected with the new lock screen, which has received a nice revamp. Of Pair lock screen, you can change the look and feel of your iPhone by connecting your lock screen to your Focus. Activate a focus mode to automatically swipe to the corresponding lock screen.
Focus Mode on iOS 16 also brings:
Home screen page suggestions: iOS suggests home screen pages with apps and widgets most relevant to the focus mode you set.
Focus filters: Set boundaries within Apple apps like Calendar, Mail, Messages, and Safari to set boundaries for each enabled Focus. For example, choose a set of tab groups to appear in Safari while in Work Focus, or hide your work calendar when using Personal Focus.
Suggestions for focus mode in the lock screen gallery: iOS proposes a relevant set of lock screens for the Focus options offered, such as a data-rich lock screen when using the Work Focus, or a photo lock screen while using the Personal Focus.
Allow and mute list: When you set a focus mode, you select apps and people you want to receive notifications from by allowing or muting them.
Easier setup: Apple is also making it easier to get started with Focus Mode on iOS 16 with a personalized setup experience for each option.
Last but not least, the company also integrates the Focus Filter API to iOS 16 so developers can use the signal you use to enable focus mode to hide distracting content. In addition, you can have Focus Mode enabled automatically at a set time or location, or while using a particular app.
